Heavy Cut Permits & Hazardous Materials Training

Out of an abundance of caution in light of recent developments regarding COVID-19, VT LEAP and partner organizations are postponing all workshops between now and May 4th. We are taking a wait and see approach regarding remaining workshops in May and plan to make an announcement whether they will still be held, or postponed, in the middle of April.

Due to the significant planning involved in organizing workshops, from instructors to locations and meals, it would be very helpful if you would let LEAP know what workshops you would like to attend if they are rescheduled. Please send an email to vtleap@gmail.com with your preference.

8am to 3:30pm (8 LEAP credits; 6 CFE credits)

This training will cover the Vermont’s heavy cutting law. We will discuss the information necessary to complete an application, as well as cover the permit exemptions, including agricultural conversion and pre-approved management plans. This information will be valuable to loggers and foresters and will help you understand when a permit is necessary, or an exemption is appropriate, and how to navigate that process. We will also cover hazardous materials safety; best practices for cleaning up spills; when to report a spill, and what should be in a spill kit.  All attendees will receive sample spill kits to take back to their job.
